Tender opportunity for “Young Filmmakers” Project
INVITATION TO TENDER: YOUNG FILMMAKERS PROJECT (opportunity expired)
Wave Arts Education Agency is inviting professional filmmakers with experience of working with young people in school settings to submit a tender for an exciting primary school filmmaking project beginning spring 2020, in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
A costed proposal should be submitted on one page of A4 paper, attached to an email.
The deadline is 5pm on 3 January 2020.
The proposal needs to cover 4 primary schools, and the cost should reflect this.
The project will take place in the period 24 Feb – 3 April (2 schools) and summer term (2 schools).
Time commitment: 3 half days filming in each school working with young people to get footage, plus editing by pro filmmaker outside of the school into a pro quality film of 2-5 minutes, which the school / Wave can then use on their websites to showcase the school.
Accreditation: certificates for young participants
Please note: practitioners need to have in place Public Liability Insurance and an Enhanced DBS certificate less than 12 months old; plus 2 referees (ideally from a school or youth organisation) prepared to provide a reference relating to a similar previous projects led by the applicant working with young people.
The finished film will be copyright free.
Learning outcomes: Basic skills in filmmaking (using cameras and other equipment), storyboarding, literacy and teamwork.
Subject matter: The young participants and the school should choose subjects to cover – this can be animated by interviewing students, teachers and other members of staff as well as filming the school activities. As creative as possible!
Age of young people involved – Age 10-11 (years 5 and 6)
Number of participants: the project should work with at least 10 young people per school.
Report: The successful applicant will also be asked to submit a short report with recommendations for future similar filmmaking projects.
