Surya Arts, the educational Indian arts group, are back in Dorset with two programmes!
Their highly successful long-touring Surya’s Story (Primary & Secondary) and a new piece for Reception and Key Stage 1 Jazz and Jagdeep Like Dancing.
Not only do Surya Arts raise awareness of the importance of The Rights of The Child and Fairtrade but they bring joy and positive energy into every setting they perform and work in.
These programmes are ideal for the summer term… often you find their amazing Bhangra dancer Vinodh Mehay performing with the drummer outside!
What teachers said in 2015:
‘Absolutely amazing, inspiring day by your super talented team!’
‘Really vibrant with great involvement with the students’
‘A real fun experience with a serious message.’
‘A brilliant mix of story telling, factual information and fun.’
Both of these theatre-in-education programmes are cross-curricular linking into RE, PHSE, Geography, Dance, Drama and Music. Performances can work with whole year groups but for early years it is preferable to work with one class at a time.
The cost is highly subsidised at £350 for the day for four professional artists and a technician. (This works out roughly at £2.50 per child/student)
Depending on your choices they can perform Surya’s Story and deliver workshops twice a day. Sessions last two hours.
Jazz and Jagdeep Like Dancing sessions last 45 minutes and can be performed up to 4 times a day.
Primary Schools can take Surya’s Story and Jazz and Jagdeep Like Dancing for the same daily rate.
Surya Arts are very flexible and can work around the individual needs of schools.
