Hammer and Play: November 2018 (Project completed)

We are inviting creative teachers/educators to participate in a free CPD session at Arts University Bournemouth(AUB).

This will take place on Saturday 17 November 2018, 0930-1430. The subject areas that will be explored are:

Workshop 1: 3D Sculpture

Opportunity to explore creating 3D forms through developing a ‘Sound Sculpture Park’. Julia Jones will guide you through how we can adapt our space and surroundings – using sound, objects and senses. This workshop is designed to leave you with new ideas of how to explore space in your classrooms.

Workshop 2: Life Drawing

Improve your observational and drawing skills through the disciplined approach of life drawing. Expression through confident mark making by using various materials. This will involve drawing the nude human form and suitable for beginners and advanced individuals.

Workshop 3: The Kodaly Method: The Feversham Academy

Jimmy Rotheram has made headlines across the world by putting music at the heart of the curriculum at Feversham Primary, leading to an enormous upturn in the school’s fortunes. Not only has the school gone from special measures to the top 1% of schools in the country for pupil progress, but now every child in the school is musically literate, able to read, write, compose and perform with confidence. The secret? The magical, joyful approach to music pedagogy of Zoltan Kodály, which plans for progress from babies to virtuoso, and makes every step along the way as fun and inclusive as possible.

Take the journey from Nursery to Year 6 in a single day, with practical singing and rhythm games.

Free lunch will be provided from 1330-1430 and parking onsite will be open and accessible. We are asking staff to select 1 out of the 3 sessions. This will be done a first come, first basis. To register your interest please email your workshop preference, whether you’re staying for lunch and any food intolerances to Rachel.sene@bournemouth.gov.uk.

This opportunity is open to any practitioner or staff member interested in developing their creativity, though priority will be given to Cultural Hub members and partners.
